How amazing is it that it’s now February 2023! I think that as you grow older, you become more conscious of how fast time is passing by, ‘no? The past few months have been a mix of busy weeks and quiet days.

There are many times that I want to pause, catch my breath, because all these–work, home, the kids, husband, hobbies don’t seem to stop.  But in the slow days, I find myself thinking I should be doing something, that I need to do everything on my to-do list, lest it piles up and becomes unmanageable.

I guess to catch up on what’s kept me busy, here are some highlights from the past few months. It’s hard to balance everything, we know this as Mums, but still satisfying when we know our families are doing alright.

Christmas

Christmas season is always busy and we attended several parties to celebrate with friends.

Digital Marketing course

I took up a Digital Marketing course in the middle of last year. It was a 30-hour online training where I learned about different aspects of various digital platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc). I’m not quite sure yet how or if I will pursue Digital Marketing as a side hustle or a full-time career, but it does help me understand many ways I can build a brand. Let’s see where this one takes me.

A long trip to the top of the North island

We went on a 10-day trip up North with some friends. New Year’s was spent in Auckland and then onwards to the top Most of my photos and videos are on Instagram. I particularly enjoyed going to Sculptureum because of the unique paintings and installations. Patty had a grand time looking at the displays, I’m pretty sure she got inspired to do more arts.

I got a new job

I left my job at the government agency I worked in and took on a new role with another organisation. Sometimes you just know when you’ve outgrown your job and need to look for another challenge. I’m three weeks into the job and find it complex, but really interesting.

Beach Days

We have been spending as much time as possible at the beach. As you know, summer in New Zealand is at the end of the year, right until late February. This summer has been a crazy mix of wild weather (lots of rainy days) and even a major cyclone. That’s why any day the sun is out and it’s not too cold, we head to the beach for a good dose of sun and salty water.

I ran a 10K (again)

I can’t remember how many 10Ks I’ve run, but I’m pretty sure this one is the best I’ve done, time-wise. Running 10K in less than an hour is still a goal, but I’m happy with the improvements I’ve made.

That’s pretty much it my life update for now. The girls are back in school, and we are trying to settle into our new routine for the next few weeks until the girls go on their term break. That means we’ll have different things to do again. It’s all a constant change, right?

There have been a few challenges, bad days in the past few months. It’s not always easy, but with teamwork between JP and me, plus lots of patience and prayers, we somehow get over them.

How about you, what have you been up to lately?
