Hello, friends! Today I share with you my Word for the Year this 2023 and perhaps my Word for many many years to come! I have been doing this for a couple of years, if you’d like to see what the previous Words of the Year are, have a read!

This year, I took the plunge and decided to FOLLOW Him! By Him, I mean the Big Guy up there! Look, I grew up Catholic and know all the rituals and principles and rules of the faith. But this one is a bigger commitment. More than the things I learned in school, this is me as a forty-plus woman making a conscious, personal decision to commit my life to obey and Follow Him.

What does it mean to follow? It means:

  • repenting and believing in the Gospel

  • leaving behind our selfish past

  • submitting to His will

  • loving as He loved and desiring the life he offers

  • being prepared to endure hardships

Does it sound simple? Yes. Is it easy to do? Definitely not. But hopefully with a lot of faith, prayers and intentional living, I continually make myself a better child of God.

So this is my Word for the Year. Follow. Such a simple word that carries with it a lot of responsibility. But as far as words go, I think I’ll be keeping this in mind for many years to come.

What’s your Word for the Year? I would love to know!
