Today is Matariki weekend! Matariki was declared as an official holiday last 2021 and observed from 2022. There are different events to celebrate Matariki , the Maori consider this their New Year.

Last year in Greytown

Our family is off to the Wairarapa for the long Matariki weekend. In Greytown, there is the on-going Christmas in July, a month-long celebration, since New Zealand winter is right smack in the middle of the year. John booked us into a nice hotel with an indoor pool (for the kids!). I plan to just chill and relax–however that looks, with two kids in tow.

Here are some things you might like:

I’ve been missing travelling and I just re-read my 24-hour visit to South Korea. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since we last went overseas!

Did you know “When Harry Met Sally” almost didn’t get written?

I recently finished the Wham! documentary on Netflix. Such a good story about two childhood friends who made it big. It focuses on how they rose to become one of the most famous bands in the 80s and how they ended their partnership. Ending something doesn’t have to be ugly, as this documentary shows.

Blogging has been here for a long time. Sharing with you one of the blogs I still follow (ever since 2007!)

Are there any other bloggers you’re still reading these days? Let me know in the comments. And do let me know what you thought of the documentary. Happy Matariki, everyone!

Filipina mum making a home in New Zealand. On my blog, I write about living in the "land of the long, white cloud", food, travel and family.
