My dearest Katie,
If there is one thing I remember very clearly about you this past year, it would have to be that I bought you a lot of new clothes because you keep outgrowing a lot of your stuff. Once you started going to school, your appetite grew by a LOT! Look at you now, my big six-year old girl!
We’ve had a lot of breakthroughs this year. You can now say lots of words and phrases. You are such a clever girl, my Katie! Pardon Mummy for always having her camera in front of you, I just love documenting your progress and letting our family know about it.
At school, your teachers absolutely love you. You are learning so much, and you’ve even received awards from the school. I was so proud seeing you go up to the stage and get your award. You will be doing that many more times, for sure.
We noticed that you don’t like using your tablet anymore. You like watching what Patty likes in Youtube which is more of the talking videos, rather than the nursery rhymes. In the car, however, you still like listening to your music. In fact, you’ve memorised the playlist that you can tell us what song will come next. So amazing!
My dear girl, last year, we didn’t get to have a big party because of the pandemic. Daddy and I were already prepared to set up a big bash for you, but a few weeks ago, New Zealand went into lockdown and although we’re out of it now, we still have to be cautious. So, we’re going to postpone the big party to next year. Fingers-crossed we’ll have a really big one when you turn seven!
We did get to have a small celebration with our friends last Friday. We also went to Denny’s for brunch–you love their curly fries and strawberry shake. At home, we had our little party, just the four of us. And you got a really nice present that Patty picked out for you. She even made you a pretty birthday card.
I am so happy for all the things you’ve accomplished this year. You are such a bright girl , learning things at your own time, and always surprising us with the new things that you can do. There are so many things to discover, dear girl. You will surprise us many more times.
Happy Birthday, my dear Katherine. You are our little ray of sunshine and we look forward to the many adventures you’ll have on your 6th year.
Love always,
Mummy
