Let me just say how I’m loving Pinterest lately. It has helped me plan out Patty’s first birthday party easily. Since she doesn’t have any favourite characters yet, I decided on a very colourful and fun theme. And so, rainbows and unicorns it is!

Our friends help us decorate the venue. Here in New Zealand, you get to exercise your DIY skills, especially with children’s parties. I shopped for party decors at Kmart (I am also starting to love Kmart!), a few items from the dollar store, and voila! The venue looked as festive as we wanted it to be.

We also organized some games for the kids and for the adults.

Our friend made Patty a special cake and some cupcakes. Look at that gorgeousness!

These parties also let us spend time and good conversations with friends.

It was an afternoon of good food and fun with friends. We are so very thankful for our Wellington family for their help in making this party a success.

But the truth is, our birthday girl fell asleep for most of the party. She was wide awake and happy to get her piece of cake and open gifts at home.

Thank you everyone for all your wonderful wishes and gifts!
