We are in the middle of winter here in New Zealand. The days are getting shorter and it is definitely getting cold. We are still adjusting to our new normal, the four of us. Here are a couple of updates from Patty’s third and fourth month.
Patty’s 3rd Month
She’s consistently gaining and growing. Yey! We recently moved her on to infant-sized diapers (previously, she was on newborn-sized ones). I have also stored away quite a few newborn clothes. She outgrew them fast!
These days,we’ve been putting her on her playmat more often, and she finds it fascinating. She also listens to nursery rhymes, especially when Katie is around.
Katie is slowly getting used to having her in the house. She’s still a bit hesitant to approach her sister, but I can see she’s getting more curious about this new person at home.
Oh, and Patty got her passport too! This little Kiwi is ready to travel.
Patty’s 4th Month
Everyday, I see Patty getting more reponsive and loud. She’s a little chatterbox! I love hearing her giggle when we talk to her.
This past Saturday, for JP’s birthday, we we took Patty on her first trip out to Mount Victoria and a brief walk in Oriental Bay.
I have to say, it’s been really tiring taking care of Patty and Katie at the same time. No books, articles and forums prepared me for the physical and mental exhaustion of handling two kids, plus housework.
I usually go with that old saying: sleep when the baby sleeps.
It is hard doing this alone, without any help,I tell you. JP has been such a great partner, taking care of Katie and helping around the house, while still going to work. Both of us are exhausted, but there’s still a lot to smile about.
These two beautiful girls are making our lives interesting and fulfilling. We celebrate by eating another cupcake!
