Hello from Windy Wellington! We are in the middle of our first week here in New Zealand, and guess who just celebrated her 8th month: Miss Katie of course! We are still on tourist-mode, exploring the city, so this will be a short one.

The past few weeks have been spent saying our goodbyes to family and friends in Cebu and Manila. Katie started out a bit shy around her cousins and grandmas, but eventually warmed up to them. I wish we could have spent a couple more days in Manila, but her Daddy was waiting for us in Wellington already.

While in Manila, I started to give her small fruits and veggies to try out on her own. Carrots were a hit, I think she thought they were her teether. But oranges–well, that became the instant favorite. I think she had fun squeezing it and seeing the mess she was making.

But maybe the most important skill she learned just a few days after our arrival in NZ is CRAWLING! The little lady has just learned she needed to move her body and not just be on her tummy, in order to get what she wants.

Now that she’s learned how to crawl, well you can just imagine how I have my hands full trying to make sure she doesn’t fall when she’s on the bed.

Winter is just about to start here in New Zealand, so we are both adjusting to the weather: cold, rainy and windy (thank God there is no snow!). I’m always double checking if she’s dressed warmly enough. I was actually thinking she might get sick with the sudden change in climate, but so far, she’s been alright.

I did say it was going to be short, as we’re going out in a few minutes. I end this post now with Katie’s customary cupcake shot. On to the next month, friends!
