I’m an oatmeal-for-breakfast girl. On weekdays, I’d rather spend a few more minutes in bed rather than be in the kitchen fixing breakfast for myself. It’s a pretty busy life we lead here in Singapore, so anything that’s quick to prepare and eat for breakfast is a necessity.
Most people would go to the nearest hawker center to buy the usual breakfast–kopi, kaya toast and soft-boiled egg. Or maybe some breakfast noodles with a few pieces of luncheon meat. I’ve tried them all, but I definitely can’t do it everyday. There are times the food can be too oily, and well, just plain unhealthy.
Oatmeal, on the other hand, is probably one of the healthiest things you can eat. But sometimes, it can taste bland and boring. Here’s a couple of ways I’ve spruced up my oatmeal. It doesn’t require sugar (which I’m cutting back on), but you can add half a teaspoon or so for a little additional taste.
