I’m a bit late in posting this as I needed to recover from writing about our Italy trip. Sorting through all those pictures was exhausting! But it was good to relive the trip.

This March, Katie celebrates her 6th month! Woohoo!

The major change this month really is that she has started eating solids. Well, pureed veggies and fruits, that is. On the day of her first meal, we made a big deal out of it. Her daddy scheduled his flight back from Singapore to make sure he was there to document it. A few days before, I had her practice sitting on her bumper seat, and showed her her small bowl and spoon. She thought they were toys.

Her first meal was just plain rice porridge (we put the rice on the blender to make it more powde r-like) mixed with milk. And a few days later, we tried to feed her some bananas, which she did not like. Some apples and pears too–she like them. Squash and carrots, she also likes them! She’s also tried and likes powdered rice cereal.

Some moms who read this may raise their eyebrows about feeding her powdered rice cereal (ie. Cerelac). A lot of people think it’s not good to give “instant” food to your baby, but for me, as long as her pediatrician says it’s fine, plus it’s fortified with Iron too, then I’m good with it. She doesn’t have it everyday, though.

I DO plan to give her as much natural foods, of course.  As any new mom has done, I read a lot of articles about methods of feeding babies. I am interested in Baby-led weaning, but I think I’ll probably wait a few months more. I have a lot of concern about how small or big to cut fruits and veggies (to prevent/minimize the risk of choking). Our goal right now is to introduce her to new and different tastes.

Going to “School”

In other news, we recently enrolled Katie in music classes at Gymboree. It’s really for her to see new faces and socialize with other kids. She enjoys it, then she gets sleepy at the later part of the class. But so far so good, we are looking forward to her next sessions.

First Pool Experience

We also spent the weekend at at resort here in Cebu where Katie experienced being in a pool for the first time! No swimming yet, we just wanted her to get a feel of the water. We think she enjoyed it, though she got tired afterwards.

At the end of this month, her daddy will be leaving for NZ, so we are spending as much time as we can together. Im just thankful that JP managed to get his request to work from home approved. It’s going to be more than a month before we are all together again.

But we must dwell on happy things. So it’s on to the next month, folks!
