My dearest Patty,
The year went by so fast, didn’t it? It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating your first birthday, now you are two years old!
We did not have a big party this year, but we celebrated your birthday twice! We had afternoon tea with your friends at childcare, and after that, we had dinner with our Wellington family. You blew candles on two cakes this year.
Once we got home, you opened your presents, and played with them with Ate Katie. You didn’t mind sharing your Play-Doh with your sister. Good job, my love.
This past year, you’ve grown so much–you’re definitely more active these days. You’re also quite the chatterbox and can now reply to us when we ask you questions. You love to sing nursery rhymes, your favourites are “Wheels on the Bus” and “Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” (you literally jump on the bed when you sing this one!). It’s so much fun to watch and listen to you!
I had to get back to work late last year, and just like Ate Katie, you are now into full-time childcare. There are many times that I feel guilty about this, but I see that both of you are thriving and enjoying your time over there, so that comforts me a bit. I want to find a way to spend more time with you guys, maybe find a job with less hours, but for now, this is how we are.
You are such a good and sweet sister to your Ate. You give her a good night kiss before going to bed, and you always try to play with her. You also like to imitate your sister. When your Ate doesn’t like to eat something, you’ll decide you don’t want to eat it too. But you also have a mind of your own, there are things that Ate likes that you don’t.
You are quite independent, can be stubborn and not afraid to express yourself. Sometimes, you will push other kids away (we’re going to work on this!), and you can scream your head off if you’re in a bad mood. It can get quite frustrating for your Dad and I sometimes, but we know you’ll grow out of it later on.
It’s going to be another good year for us, Patty-pat, I just know it. You make our family life colourful and exciting, there is never a dull moment with you (and Ate) around. Your Dad and I are growing and learning as parents, and for that we are thankful that we have the two of you. So onwards and upwards, my Patty! Happy Birthday , my funny girl!
Love,
Mummy
