I am continuing with tradition and documenting Patty’s first year here on the blog. However, unlike Katie’s milestone posts, I’ll be covering two months of progress in each post because I have very few free hours to myself these days. But anyway, here’s the latest on little Miss Patty.
She just turned two months old a few days ago. Hooray to us! It has been quite a busy few weeks here in the house. We have been trying (operative word: trying) to get to some sort of routine, so we can take care of both girls.
Patty’s 1st Month
In Patty’s first month, she gained a considerable amount of weight, and I was not surprised. She takes in a LOT of milk! She started off with both breast and formula milk, and I’m still trying to get my supply up, so it’s still a wait-and-see approach if we’ll be doing exclusive breastfeeding.
The sleepless nights are back, at least for me, as Patty frequently wakes at night for a feed.
I am so grateful that family was here to assist, even for a few weeks. I don’t think JP and I could have survived without any help.
We had our first family outing to the mall. It took us almost an hour to prepare both girls and their things before getting out the door. The girls just fell asleep on their respective prams, so JP and I had a quiet coffee date. I think this is how our dates will be for the next few years.
Patty’s 2nd Month
Well, the weeks flew by very quickly. We just finished our last visit with the midwife (they do home visits until baby is 6 weeks old). She weighed Patty, and was satisfied with her growth.
Patty likes sounds and looking at moving things. She is fascinated with the things that hangs above on her cot.
She seems to like being cuddled the entire time she sleeps, and would protest with a cry when we put her down on the bed or on the cot. So most of the time, she ends up on my chest or just beside me on the bed. Sorry, anti-cosleeping people, just doing what works for all of us. This is unlike our experience with Katie, where we could put her down on the cot and she’d sleep long enough for us to get our rest.
Winter has just started, and in the past few weeks we have been taking advantage of the nice weather by going out. Katie likes going to the playground, and it’s a nice time for Patty to get some sun and fresh air.
Right now,I know that taking care of Patty is going to be so different from how we did it with Katie. Mainly because it will just be the two of us,no nannies and no family too. It’s going to be challenging but we have to manage as best as we can.
Onward to the next month! Let me enjoy that cupcake–I know I deserve it!
