52 Week Project-Week 25: This Matariki weekend, we went north to Hamilton for a quick getaway with friends. Driving along State Highway 1, you will pass by The Tongariro National Park, where you can find Mt. Ruapehu and Mt Ngaruhoe, made famous in the Lord of the Rings movies as Mordor and Mt.Doom. This is Mt. Ngaruhoe, still fairly active. It last erupted in 1977.
I am always in awe whenever I see this volcano, and Mt. Ruapehu. It is a sight to behold and you cannot help but take photos everytime you pass by, no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
