Patty was quite excited about this trip because we were going to ride the Interislander to the South Island. Last year’s trip to the South was quite memorable for her, so this was one she looked forward to.

Lochmara -Interislander Boat

It’s a three hour ride to cross the Cook Strait to get to the South, but as soon as you see the gorgeous Sounds, you know the ride was worth it!

We boarded a smaller boat at the Picton harbour to get to the Lodge and once you arrive at Lochmara, you are gifted this gorgeous view!

Here are some more photos!

Overall, it was a relaxing weekend, we had a good time spent with friends. We’re already looking forward to going back and visiting again soon!

Tip:

Food at the lodge is really good, but can be quite expensive. If you’d like to save some money or eat something different, might be good to bring your own food, that does not require cooking in a stove, ie. crackers, bread, cup noodles, microwaveable rice, tinned goods, fruits.
