It’s the final quarter of the year. Whew, time sure did fly fast, right? How have you been doing on your goals for 2019? Has everything been almost ticked off? Barely started anything? Sometimes, when this time of the year comes, I get a little anxious that I may not accomplish my goals by the end of the year. I checked on my planner a couple of days ago and found that, I’ve crossed a few off my list (a relief!), but still have a few more to do.

To help me accomplish the rest of the things on my list, I’m doing the Four Simple Goals exercise from October till December. I find that if I break down goals into simple, action-oriented tasks, I don’t feel pressure and overwhelmed with all the things I have to do.

Four simple goals is something I read from A Beautiful Mess blog years ago. It’s such a good idea, that I’ve always done this towards the end of the year. But I think it’ll also be useful anytime you want to really focus on a goal.

Four simple Goals 2019

Here’s mine for this last quarter:

Read 50 pages of book every other night

My goal this year is to finish at least three books . I’m down to my last book, so I think 50 pages every other night is manageable. That’s the number of pages I can read when I sneak out of the room after I put the girls to sleep, based on previous experience.

Running/Going to the gym three times a week

I am committing to training because I signed up for another half-marathon for November. Actually, I’ve been training since September, and I’m happy that I’ve been consistent with this. I wrote about this as a 100-day project.

Spend an hour per week completing my stitch project

So, this Amorsolo cross-stitch has been a work in progress ever since JP and I got married! Can you believe that? I’ve worked on it on and off, while pregnant, and for a period after each of the girls were born. But for the past year, it’s really just been so busy–with work, running the household and chasing the girls around, that I haven’t got a time to do this. Right now, I just need to finish the final block of the design, so an hour per week should be sufficient, because I really want to cross this off my list this year, and finally get it framed and displayed in the house.

Spend time in silence and prayer everyday

It’s funny that I have to make this part of my goals, but it is. I’ve become one of those people who feels unproductive when I’m doing nothing. My phone has become my constant companion, and when I have five minutes to spare, I automatically open it up and scroll through my social media feed. I’ve been meaning to break this habit, but it’s been hard. So I think by putting this out here, I’d be building this habit for a long time.

So those are my four simple goals for until the end of 2019. Hopefully by the end of the year, I will have accomplished all these. How about you, do you have any goals you want to finish this year? Share them with me and we can cheer each other together.
