Supposedly, spring comes around this time of the year. But with temperatures still hanging around 12-17 degrees Celcius, I feel it hasn’t arrived at all. But I guess newbies from the tropics like me have to get used to this climate. In any case, they say that once the tulips bloom in the Wellington Botanic Gardens, spring has definitely arrived. So we went there last weekend to take a look.
The Botanic Gardens is a sprawling 25 hectares of land, located within the city proper of Wellington. Just at the edge of town, it’s easily accessible by public bus or a leisurely walk from the Wellington Cable Car. The tulips are the first things you see once you go through the main entrance.
There was no other thing to do than take pictures!
Apart from the tulips display, there was also a section for a Japanese-inspired garden, complete with cherry blossoms!
We didn’t get to explore the gardens as much as I wanted to–it started to drizzle! But for sure, we’ll come back in the summer. Hopefully, we get to see more of it. There is a Rose Garden that people say looks great in the summer, so I’m looking forward to that. Here is a last look at pretty tulips!
